Offshore wind is the next major American energy resource. Plans already announced by coastal states will put 40,000 megawatts of very large wind turbines into federally controlled waters off the east and west coasts in the next 10 to 20 years. This makes offshore wind one of the largest energy projects in American history, one that uniquely advances the Trump Administration’s “energy dominance” objective, as well as coastal states’ large-scale renewable energy targets. More than $100 billion of capital will be deployed. Potentially, thousands and thousands of high paying jobs will be created, especally if the federal and state governments create intelligent offshore wind transmission plans. Anbaric’s OceanGrid proposals for the East Coast, and later for the West Coast, provide a start to those plans.
